TAP Meet-up
September 2, 2026, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Let’s get together and talk about arts education! If you’re an artist looking to share your skills and make a difference, but are unsure where to start or just want to expand your teaching skillset, we want to talk to you!
We are recruiting teaching artists for new and existing trauma-informed outreach programming in 2027, run by ACAC, and our partners at MAC and MMofA. We are looking for artists interested in sharing their skills with the various populations we serve. Outreach programs are built for:
Adults and children in transitional housing facilities (young mothers, unhoused, assisted living)
Refugee and Immigrant service organizations
Veterans
Trauma Survivor Groups
Early Stage Dementia and Alzheimer’s folks
The programs we build center on existing life skills programs and leverage arts education as a tool for healing, understanding and building individual and community resilience.
Outreach programming is interdisciplinary so visual artists, musicians, writers, and other creatives are all welcome! We will talk about the goals of our outreach programs, teacher training, and opportunities with our partner organizations, while scoping out our new facilities at AC Satellite.
This program is a part of the Teaching Artist Project (TAP) – an ongoing partnership between Mobile Arts Council, Mobile Museum of Art, and Alabama Contemporary Art Center, in which we maintain a joint roster of artists interested in teaching and outreach opportunities through our organizations.
